Introduction
This investigation provides a regionally comprehensive overview and insight of the petroleum geochemistry of Paleozoic source rocks and oils of the greater Paradox Basin. The fundamental goals of this study have been achieved and are compiled in these volumes. The basic accomplishments of this investigation are threefold:
(A) to relate the oils to their sources;
(B) to establish thermal maturity indices for source
rocks and their oils, and
(C) to provide a quantitative model for petroleum
generation, expulsion, and migration in the study
area.
To achieve these goals source rocks from 56 wells and 5 outcrop locations , and 72 oils from 32 oil fields and 2 oil seeps were analyzed. The total number of analyses are shown on. The areal distribution of oils, source rock samples and profile wells are shown. These data comprise the bulk of the volumes and are arranged in the order shown.
