Canterbury Basin Sedimentology Review
GNS has recently compiled a database of sedimentary data related to the offshore Canterbury Basin. The purpose of this database is to provide a review of sedimentological features from offshore Canterbury Basin petroleum wells, based on existing open file petroleum well reports and published data spanning mid-Cretaceous to Recent time.
An executive summary gives an overview of the Canterbury Basin and its fundamental petroleum system elements for those not familiar with the basin. The review includes several subject areas that cover a wide range of topics related to the sedimentary geology of the basin. The review includes the following:
- A summary of the petroleum system
in the basin
- Structure contour, isopach, and paleogeographical
maps
- List of published papers and unpublished
petroleum reports
- Review of reservoir facies sedimentology from
Clipper-1 and Galleon-1 wells including facies interpretation, core photographs, thin section and
SEM petrography and diagenesis.
