Cretaceous Source Rock Study
Atwater Valley 336 "Showboat" Prospect

The Burlington Atwater Valley 336 #1 Showboat prospect drilled in 2001 penetrated Cretaceous source rocks that have been released to Humble Geochemical Services for analysis. Substantial sample (cuttings) was recovered and permits detailed analyses to be completed. This study is in addition to Humble's Garden Banks 754 #1 study that included L. Cretaceous and Jurassic source rocks.

From 19,500 ft. to 20,152 ft. organic rich source rocks containing Type II oil prone kerogen were recovered. One interval from 19,500 ft. to 19,830 ft. averages 4.08% TOC and a hydrogen index (HI) of 651 mg/g. A thin lean zone overlies another organic rich interval from 19,960 ft. to 20,154 ft. This rich zone averages 4.35% TOC with an HI of 698 mg/g. All samples are immature based on Rock-Eval Tmax and high HI values.

        • Carbonate carbon (33)
        • Rock-Eval (33)
        • PyGC/FID/SCLD (7)
        • Bulk kinetics (7)
        • Compositional kinetics (7)
        • MSSV/GC/FID (7 - 3 time/temps)
